Founded in 1982 by Thomas Hilton, Addtime began as a sole proprietorship dedicated to the repair of traditional clock card and time recording machines. With years of experience in the industry, Thomas quickly established a reputation for quality and reliability. Two years later, recognising a growing demand, he expanded the business to include the supply of clock machines, leading to the formation of Addtime Recording Company Limited. The name “Addtime” was thoughtfully chosen to reflect the essence of the company’s offerings—‘adding time’ to track hours worked.
Over the next three decades, Addtime evolved with technological advancements, expanding its product line from traditional clock card machines to security patrol systems, accessories, and PC-linked time recording software using magnetic cards and hand scans. The early 2000s marked a pivotal moment for the company when they partnered with a software developer. This collaboration introduced a comprehensive time and attendance software, revolutionising Addtime’s product offerings.
In 2016, the company rebranded to simply ‘Addtime’ to avoid confusion with the music and recording industries. Under a dynamic new management team, the company shifted focus towards cutting-edge biometric software, targeting the B2B market. Over the years, Addtimesoftware has evolved into a powerful suite of workforce management applications, with the latest innovations in facial recognition technologies. In response to concerns over COVID-19 and workplace hygiene, Addtime now leads the way with non-contact facial recognition as its primary biometric solution.
Today, Thomas Hilton continues to play a role in the company, but leadership has transitioned to his children Frances and Peter. Along with a team of young, dynamic sales experts and software technicians, driving Addtime’s future growth. While the company still offers traditional clock card machines and security patrol systems, its primary focus is on guiding businesses towards the latest in biometric time and attendance and workforce management solutions. Addtime now provides three versions of software, as well as a fully Cloud Hosted Version powered by AWS, designed to help companies reduce costs and enhance productivity, delivering the next level of ‘Complete Workforce Management.’
